JGW Update 5/11/26
Hello JGW Families. I hope that everyone had a Happy Mother’s Day including all of our students’ mothers and anyone who serves in a motherly role such as foster mothers, grandmothers, godmothers, aunts, guardians, and caregivers.
Here are a few reminders about the week ahead.
MCAS
Tuesday and Thursday of this week students in Grades 5 & 8 will complete the MCAS Science Subject Test. There is no science test for students in grades 6 or 7. Civics is scheduled for May 27 & 28 for Grade 8 students ONLY.
ANNUAL ATTITUDE & BEHAVIOR SURVEY
Each year the Haverhill Public Schools surveys students in grade 7 & 8 to better understand the experiences and perspectives of our youth in school and in the community. We conduct surveys such as this to better understand and assess the needs of our student population regarding programming and services in our city. This year students will complete this voluntary survey on May 13th. The survey focuses on the strengths and supports that youth have and need in their lives as well as their own perceptions of their attitudes and behaviors. Findings from this survey will help our school district and other partners work with you to ensure that young people in our community have the opportunities they need to be successful in life. Please see the attached letter for more details, including opt-out information, on this important initiative.
LOST & FOUND
Last call for missing winter jackets, hoodies, pullovers, water bottles, and lunch bags. Our stage area is overflowing with students' yet-to-be-claimed missing items. A variety of events are scheduled for the cafeteria in the next two weeks so we have to make room. Any items that are not claimed by 2:45pm on Friday will be donated or disposed of.
