During the fall, Mrs. Vlahos will be working closely with the 8th grade students to prepare them for high school. She will be going into all 7th & 8th grade classes at the beginning of October to discuss the Haverhill Public Schools High School Options Guide. The High School Options Guide will be available on the J.G Whittier School website. If you’d prefer a hard copy, please send your child to Guidance and Mrs. Vlahos will provide that to your child. If your child is going to apply to a private high school, please send in all the required documents with a Parent/Guardian signature to authorize Mrs. Vlahos to send out the required academic records for admissions. These records include report cards, as well as all standardized tests score reports (MCAS), attendance and behavior reports. Most schools also require a recommendation either from the Guidance Counselor and/or Teacher Recommendations. If this is the case, please make sure your child sees Mrs. Vlahos in Guidance to receive a Student Questionnaire. Mrs. Vlahos requires at least a two week window to complete application packets. Classical Academy Exam Details
The exam for the Haverhill High Classical Academy will take place on Thursday, November 2nd at 8:45am. The exam is approximately three hours long and testing should conclude by 12:00pm. This year, the test will be given at J.G Whittier School. If you wish for your child to take the academy test, the link to the registration form for the Classical Academy test for 8th graders is now on the Haverhill High School website (https://hhs.haverhill-ps.org/) under the Academies tab. Completed registrations are due by October 13, 2017.
