To our JG Whittier family, both old friends and new……….
Welcome Back and Welcome to the John Greenleaf Whittier Middle School!
We are happy and humbled to have the unique opportunity to be involved in your lives!
The entire JG Whittier staff is keenly aware of the responsibility that is placed upon us to provide all of you with the best educational experience possible, and will strive to do so in a safe, supportive, nurturing environment.
As you begin to become familiar with our school, we hope you will discover that we will work diligently to offer a “user friendly” environment, one that places your child’s safety, social, emotional and academic well being as our top priorities.
We are dedicated to constant improvement in theses areas and will take the time to reach those goals one program, one family and one child at a time.
The middle school years are an extremely confusing and interesting time for young adolescents. Children experience many physical, social and emotional changes as they begin to develop and mature in these areas. More often than not children of middle school age will go through awkward and confusing periods, and many need assistance in navigating their social, emotional and academic worlds.
That is why we are here! Please contact us at anytime with any questions or concerns you may have about your child. We are more than happy to work with you and offer any assistance and guidance we can.
It is our sincere hope that your child has a wonderful experience while attending the JG Whittier Middle School.

The first day of school is Tuesday, August 28, 2018. Students can arrive at school beginning at 8:05 am.
Please do not report earlier as there is no adult supervision until 8:05 am.
I have attached an informational FAQ bulletin that will hopefully answer many of your questions about the beginning of the school year and beyond.

Opening Day Information for JG Whittier Students and Families
Day 1
The first day of school for students is Tuesday, August 28, 2018. All students in grades 5-8 should report to school between 8:05 and 8:25.
We respectfully request that all students report to school by 8:30 am to avoid missing important academic instructional time.
Students can be dropped off in the pick up/drop off line on the right side of the building or along the front of the property on Concord Street. There is no entry into the main driveway during pick up/drop off times. This area is reserved for busses only.
Grade 5/6 students report to the rear of the school on the right side of the building.
Grade 7/8 students report to the rear of the school on the left (Pentucket Lake side) of the building.
In the event of inclement weather, there will be a flag placed outside at the front entrance to the school. Students will report to their hallway areas inside the building.
Students are tardy after 8:45 am.

All student schedules are now available online to students and parents. You can access them by signing on to the parent student portal at www.hillie.org
Open House
Open House, Monday August 27th
4-5 pm: Grade 5 parents
4-4:20pm: Meet in Cafeteria for presentation from administrators
4:20-4:50pm: Visit classrooms and get presentation from teachers
4:50-5:00pm: Meet back in gym for 10 minute Q & A
5-5:20pm: Meet in Cafeteria for presentation from administrators
5:20-5:50pm: Visit classrooms and get presentation from teachers/teams
5:50-6:00pm: Meet back in gym for 10 minute Q & A
Homerooms will be posted on the front door on Friday, Aug. 24th after 4:00 pm.
