Welcome new AP, Cathy Koch

Hello J.G. Whittier Families,

It is with great enthusiasm that I am writing you all today! After a thorough search and interview process, I am thrilled to announce that we have hired a new Assistant Principal at J.G. Whittier Middle School! Her name is Cathy Koch, and she is coming to us most recently from being Assistant Principal at a school in the Ayer-Shirley school district. She will officially be starting with us tomorrow, 8/11/2020 and I am excited to have her join our J.G. Whittier community. Below, please find Mrs. Koch’s own letter introducing herself:

Dear JG Whittier Families,

My name is Cathy Koch, and I feel very fortunate to be the new Assistant Principal at JG Whittier. As I get to know the JG Whittier community in the coming months, I hope you will introduce yourself and let me know what you need from the school and me to help your student be successful.

I am a life-long educator with a background at both the middle and elementary school levels. After teaching middle school for five years I became a school administrator. At various times I taught ELA, math, social studies, and science. My husband and I live in North Andover and have three children, who will be entering grades, 4, 6, and 8 this fall. When I am not at school, I enjoy reading, heading to the beach, hiking local trails, and exploring nearby cities and towns. Please share your favorite book titles with me as I am always looking for a good read to bring with me.

This year will be a very different start to school than any of us have experienced before and I look forward to meeting this challenge head on with the students, staff and families of JG Whittier. Please be sure to stop by and introduce yourself as circumstances allow. I look forward to meeting everyone.

Regards,

Cathy Koch, M.Ed. (see attached picture)

I hope that you will all help me in welcoming Mrs. Koch into this great school community! I’m looking forward to great things at J.G. Whittier this school year no matter what the actual year may look like.

Take care,

Tim Betty

Principal
