VISITING J.G. WHITTER MIDDLE SCHOOL

  • If visiting BEFORE 8:25AM, please park in the main lot. There should be plenty of parking spaces available. Please do not drive to the front of the school. This area is for HPS transportation vehicles only between 7:50AM – 8:25AM.
  • If visiting AFTER 8:25AM, please park in one of the visitor parking spaces at the front of the school or in the main lot.

 

DROPPING OFF/ PICKING UP

When dropping off or picking up at JGW it is important to to keep in mind the following guidelines:

  • First, be patient. There is a lot going on with large busses, mini-busses, and contracted van or SUV taxis entering and exiting school grounds. We want everyone to get in and out safely, so being patient and courteous are essential.
  • Please follow the traffic pattern as illustrated in the picture below.
  • If you need to enter the school before 8:25AM, please park in the main lot instead of the visitor spaces at the front of the school.
  • Enter the drop off/ pick up zone colored GREEN in the picture, please pull up to the next car and have your child quickly exit onto the sidewalk. At least five cars can fit in the drop off zone, and all can unload at the same time.
  • Please be courteous when dropping off. Parents behind you may need to get to work. So, please have your child exit your vehicle quickly.
  • Watch out for crossing pedestrians (students and staff).
  • Watch out for other vehicles entering the parking lot.
  • Pull out safely onto Concord St.
  • Regarding pick ups at dismissal, walkers and pick ups are called for once all large busses, mini-busses and contracted taxis have exited the area in front of the school. This is so that these students can safely get to their family’s vehicle and not be in danger from transportation vehicles trying to exit school grounds.

 

 

DISMISSING STUDENTS

If you need to dismiss your child, please do so before 2:30PM. This will give our office staff time to contact your child’s classroom and get them to the main office for your departure. As 2:45PM approaches, the administration and office staff will be preparing for dismissal and you do not want to get blocked in by busses or other transportation vehicles that are arriving by 2:35PM.
