JG WHITTIER’S 1st ANNUAL THANKSGIVING FEAST: This event is coming up quickly! We are super excited to host our own Thanksgiving Dinner for all of our JGW families!! We are hoping that you can all attend! RSVP forms went home with all students. Please make sure to turn those in ASAP! The event is on Thursday, 11/21 at 6pm. This will include dinner and also a craft event with prizes. Please see the attached form below.
VETERAN’S DAY: This past Friday, 11/8, the 6th grade was able to put on an assembly to honor some of our local veterans. Please see below for some pictures of the event!
NO SHAVE NOVEMBER: We are underway with No Shave November. Please remember to send in spare change with your student’s to donate to the staff member’s bottle that they would like to see do something embarrassing! The staff member who raises the most money will be the lucky winner. All donations are going to be donated directly to the American Cancer Society. Please see below for the group “before” picture…
ACADEMIC NEWS:
I am excited to share some pictures of a handful of math projects that were done by some of our 8th grade students this past week. This was done as part of our Algebra 1 math course taught by Mr. Yanoff.
MUSIC NEWS: Please visit www.whittiermiddlemusic.webs.com to RSVP for this year’s Winter Concert. Songs from this year’s playlist include, “Step Into Christmas” by Elton John, a mashup from The Polar Express, and, “Higher Love” by Whitney Houston! The JGW Cheer Squad will also be there to give us a pep rally we’ll never forget! Reserve your seats today! All Hillies are welcome to this celebration!!!
SPORTS NEWS:
GIRL’S BASKETBALL: The girls will have practice on Thursday and Friday this week from 3-5pm after school.
BOY’S BASKETBALL: The boys will have practice Tuesday and Wednesday this week from 3-5pm after school. Please make sure you bring in a copy of your physicals if you have not already turned them in.

CLUB NEWS:
CHORUS CLUB: Chorus Club is looking for members! If you or anyone you know likes to sing, join Mr. Gariepy after school on Tuesdays in the music room from 2:45pm-4pm.
SCHOOL NEWS TEAM: The School Newspaper, “The Poet,” is on sale at all lunches for 25 cents each.
JR VIP CLUB: JR VIP will be meeting Wednesday, 11/13 in Art Room 2:45 to 3:45.
OTHER IMPORTANT NEWS/INFO:
PTO: the PTO is doing a holiday wreath/poinsettia fundraiser with Cottage Gardens this year, and all orders are due November 15th. Wreaths and kissing balls will be available for pick up the beginning of the week of Thanksgiving, and the poinsettias will be available November 27th. All items must be picked up by December 9th. Orders can be returned to your homeroom teachers.
ATTENDANCE NEWS: JGW wants to congratulate Homeroom 3 on having the best attendance percentage in the entire school for the month of October! They were rewarded with a banner that is hanging in their homeroom, and will also receive another prize to be determined. This contest will be held each month, so make sure your student shows up to school daily and helps their homeroom!
Haverhill Schools want to thank our families and with the generosity of many Haverhill businesses we will be raffling off great prizes to Haverhill School families.
Each student who attends school every day between October 25th and November 27th will have their name entered to win a prize. Prizes will be sent home with your student on Wednesday, November 27th to enjoy during your Thanksgiving break.
