HYBRID MODEL

GRADE 5:

Ms. Sanguedolce: What a year it has been! I want to thank all the staff, students, and families for their patience and ongoing support. Together, we figured it out, we persevered, and we succeeded in learning so very much. We have one week to go, and then these fifth graders can call themselves sixth graders. Woohoo!

In math, we will wrap Envisions up with Topic 16 on classifying two-dimensional shapes. We’ll also explore some fun math websites and some silly, old math videos. In social studies, we will complete our learning by exploring the Civil War.

Have a wonderful summer!

Ms. Delong: I cannot believe this school year is over. These students have overcome so many obstacles and should be so proud of their accomplishments this year. Their resilience will take them far in life. I have been fortunate to have forged relationships with the in person 5th graders and I can genuinely say that I will miss them next year, but I know they will do great things in Grade 6. To my students: Stay with science, make discoveries, and question everything. If you want to know more, explore! It has been a pleasure working with all of you this year. I told you at the start of the year that you were all scientists, and I can safely say that you are leaving the fifth grade not only as scientists, but as engineers too. You all have tremendous potential in the field of science, and I hope to see some of you in the STEM field someday! To the parents: Thank you for all of your support throughout this year. It has not been easy, but you have all done a great job supporting the Grade 5 team. I hope you have a great summer!

Ms. LaCoste: Can you believe we made it to the end of the year? Over the next week in ELA, students will be working on and performing  a little reader’s theater in class. They are studying the elements of drama and how plays are put together. We will also review skills learned this year in a virtual escape room to the beach!

In orange social studies we are wrapping up our final chapter and learning a little bit about the Civil War. Taking a bit of a break from the textbook, we have used some picture books to teach about experiences that young people had during these times.

I’ve truly enjoyed getting to know each and every one of my fifth graders this year. I wish you all a happy and healthy summer. Here’s to hoping that next year it’s a little bit more predictable!

Ms. Lees: Summer is almost here and we will wind down the school year with a mix of review for each class. Parents- reminders to your kiddos to read a book – in hand or online – for at least twenty minutes a day is a great way to build skills. It has been a year of amazing resiliency and adaptation from all the students and their parents. I hope the summer is filled with fun and sunshine!

GRADE 6:

We have academically wrapped up our grade 6 year! From cells to moon phases; from rational numbers to coordinating axes; from Ghost to Percy Jackson and from Africa to South America. We did this remotely, in person, hybrid and full class. We did this through snowstorms, heat waves, ransom attacks to no internet at all!  We did this with masks, social distancing, sitting in one room all day and sometimes from our own living rooms. WE DID THIS!!!

This will undoubtedly go into history books as the toughest year to date and WE DID THIS!

Mrs. Consolazio, Mrs. Cronin, Mrs. Guisti, Mrs. Hamel, Mrs. Jarvis, Mr. Taylor and Mrs. Sargent are your biggest fans, and we cannot wait to see where the perseverance you showed throughout this year will take you in the future. You showed us all you can do in the toughest of times and we are incredibly proud to have been your Grade 6 Teachers.

On to Grade 7- Good Luck, Stay Safe and HAPPY SUMMER!!!

Mrs. Guisti: Mrs. Guisti and Mrs. Cronin want to thank all of our sixth graders for working so hard over the course of the year, a year like no other! Through the challenges, students made progress in reading and math skills, explored the different continents in social studies and learned new concepts in science.  We are so proud of each and every one of you.  Have a wonderful summer and make lots of great memories!

GRADE 7:

Mrs. Berthiaume: In ELA, we are wrapping up our class novel, The Red Pony.  We actually read two novels: The Red Pony and Love That Dog. I’m so glad we were able to accomplish that this year!  In Social Studies, students did a fabulous job with their birds of paradise craft activity!  I wish you all a wonderful and safe summer.  Be sure to head to the library and pick up books for summer reading.  I have posted titles and links on Google Classroom.  (I will post updates on the stream.)

Mrs. Trombly: We are finishing up this week and next week with our last science unit on thermal energy.  All of my math classes are getting in any of the missing work. Finishing up some units. It has been wonderful getting to know your children over this very difficult year.

Ms. DiGloria: In our final week of school, students will wrap up our Social Studies Rome unit and enjoy The Hobbit movie(s) after reading the entire book! I will be accepting late work until 3 pm on Monday, June 14th. Please have students pass in anything they would like to receive credit for by that day and time. This has been a crazy year+ in our lives but the students have handled it well. I hope everyone has a fantastic summer!

Ms. Bilmazes: Green and Blue ELA groups have wrapped up reading The Hobbit. Yellow group is finishing reading The Red Pony. Students, keep working productively to finish the year with success. Keep up with assignments, work diligently and ask for help. Be proud of all you have accomplished this year.  I wish you all a relaxing, enjoyable summer.

REMOTE LEARNING ACADEMY

GRADE 5:

Ms. MacDonald: Happy Last Week of School! As the year comes to a close, I just want to thank all of the families who have supported their children while they learned from home this year. It is not easy for a 5th grader to take responsibility for their schedule, schoolwork, and work habits. With the support at home, so many of our students were successful this year despite the challenges. I will never EVER forget this year and these students.

Ms. Duquette: Well, we made it!  Next week is our last week of remote learning.  We will be doing many different things to wrap up the school year.   This includes our celebration on Wednesday at Tilton Upper for all of our RLA students.  I am so proud of how hard you worked every day.  I know it wasn’t easy, but you didn’t give up.  Do your best next year and remember that I believe in you!

Ms. Spadaro: Congratulations to our 5th Grade RLA students! They have faced the challenges of this school year with perseverance and grit. To celebrate their growth, we will hold a virtual assembly on Wednesday morning and a celebration for students and their families on Wednesday afternoon at Tilton Upper from 1-2pm.We will have popsicles and some things for you to bring home to remember the year! We hope to see you all there! Have a great summer!

GRADE 6:

Mrs. Simes: This week in math, my epidemiologists will share their findings on “Zombie Outbreak.”  If we have time, they will also create a “Geometrical Town,” as we wind down our understandings of the concepts of statistics and geometry.  If your student has not completed their EOY i-Ready math assessment, please remind them to complete this; it is designed for 60 -75 minutes.  Students were given ample time this past week.  In science, students will continue to work on their “Geologic History” project, I look forward to seeing what they have learned about their chosen geologic time period of Earth.

What a year we have had in the 6th Grade RLA!  Your student has had to persevere by learning through a screen.  We have had a lot of laughs and have learned so much.  I treasure our “roses and thorns” discussions, as well as the countless facts and jokes about math and science they have shared.  They continuously showed their “good citizenship” by supporting each other this year in our learning community.

“Goodbyes are not forever, not the end; it simply means that I’ll miss you until we meet again.”  All my wishes for a fun filled healthy and safe summer.

Ms. Riley: Well, we made it! It has been a pleasure to have your child in class this year. Enjoy your summer! Keep reading and practicing math facts. Stay safe and cool!

GRADE 7:

Ms. Marciano: ELA: Students will be completing various ELA surveys over the next few days. We will be completing several “book tastings” in hopes that students will love the first few chapters of one of the books and head to the local library or Barnes & Noble this summer!

SCIENCE: We will be working with Canva to create posters for the various units that we have learned about this year in 7th grade science!

Mr. LeGrand: We had a great year of learning here in the Remote Learning Academy.  It was a tough year for the students, but they did a wonderful job, despite this unprecedented pandemic. Have a wonderful vacation and I hope to see them in person next year.
