We are off to a strong start for the the school year. I ask our scholars everyday “What do you want your LEGACY to be? How do you want to be remembered?” These little sayings along with our core values are to build pride in the JGW community.
BAND: This week, all 5th and 6th grade students attended a band assembly. Band signups are due next Tuesday, 9/20. More information about the band program, including the signup form, can be found here:

Hi JGW families!
The nurses wanted to send along some information about screenings that will be happening this year. We are aiming to start the screenings in October.
Polished Dental Program- Thursday, October 6th
Forms were sent home with every student. If you did not fill out the form, your student will not participate in the dental screening. If you wish to have your student participate and you did not receive a form, please let us know and we can provide you with a new one!
State Mandated Screenings- Starting in October
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health sets forth guidelines and requirements for screenings in all Massachusetts public schools. All screenings are performed by appropriately trained health staff at various times during the academic year. If a student does not pass a screening, a letter is sent home to inform the guardians and refer for appropriate follow-up screening and/or treatment.
Parents and students may opt out of any screening by sending a request in writing or by phone to the school health office. This request is not binding for subsequent school years. Please contact us if you would not like your student to participate in the screening as soon as possible!
Vision and Hearing Screens- Grade 7
Height and Weight Screens- Grade 7
Postural Screens (Scoliosis)- Grades 5-8

JG Whittier has teamed up with Red Brick Clothing Company to raise some funds for the PTO while showing your school pride.
The PTO will receive 10% of all sales.
