JGW Family Memo 6/22

Hello JGW Community,

It is hard to believe that the school year is already coming to a close.  This year has truly been a year of tremendous growth for JGW as a school! As we wrap up,  I would like to take a few moments to personally extend a thank you to our incredible school staff who work very hard on a daily basis to guide our scholars and help them learn and grow. We would be hard pressed to find a more caring and dedicated  group of teachers.  I would also like to thank our PTO, Site Council and our family volunteers for the hours of dedication to help enrich our school and build a sense of community for our students.  To all our families, I would like to say thank you for trusting us with your children, and for your investment and support to provide a high quality education for our scholars.

As I reflect on the school year I am encouraged by many positive things that have happened throughout the year. Implementation of the following: PBIS, Town Halls, Pep Rallies, field day, adding more clubs, enhancing our athletics and drama club. We have also solidified our traditions and events at JGW such as Pumpkin Stroll, Thanksgiving dinner, Sports Banquet, Dances, NJHS Ceremony, and 8th grade activities.

We are so proud of the progress we have made this year. Data shows an increasing attendance and lowering suspensions are indicators that the culture at JGW is strong and we are committed to building on this momentum next year. Other data indicators that have shown the growth as a school is our Iready Data in both math and ELA are some of the strongest in the district. Our work over the summer will help continue the progress at the school.

I will be conducting home visits this summer the sign up genius link is here: Mr. Condon’s Summer home visits . If the dates and times do not work for your family please reach out via email at matthew.condon@haverhill-ps.org we can schedule a time for a home visit.

Finally, I want to thank all the families and scholars for welcoming me as a new Poet and Hillie. I loved coming to work every morning and working at JGW. It is my honor and bring me great pride to be the principal of Whittier.

Have a great summer!!!
