Hello JGW Community,

Music Bingo for 8th grade Washington DC Fundraiser:

The event will be February 9th at the Legion Hall in Haverhill (behind Shaw’s). Doors open at 6:30 games start at 7. Cash bar and snacks will be available but please feel free to bring your own snacks. No outside drinks allowed. There will be raffle prizes, a 50-50 and 7 games. Great Prizes! HUGE prize for the cover all.  $20 for one card, $30 for two or the mega deal $40 for 4.  Please sign up by February 6th to reserve your seat or table with your friends. No money till the night of!

Haverhill high School CTE

On Friday January 26th, program leaders from the Haverhill HS Career Technical Education program visited Ms. Sullivan’s and Ms. MacKinnon’s 8th grade science classrooms.  Leydi Diaz-Breton (CTE Recruitment & Retention Specialist), Victoria Kelley (Curriculum Supervisor of CTE), and Kevin Higginbottom  (Curriculum Supervisor of Science & Technology) met with students to discuss the five STEM CTE programs available and the application process.

Incoming 9th grade students can enroll in one of the following programs:

Information Technology; Programming and Web Development; Healthcare Occupations; PLTW Engineering/Manufacturing; orPLTW Biomedical Science.

Students and parents/ guardians can learn more about the HHS CTE program by visiting the website at  https://cte.haverhill-ps.org/ The application can be access through this website under the “Application Process” tab and the deadline for applying is Friday February 16, 2024. After February 16th, CTE program leaders and Ms. Carney will collaborate to schedule applicants for interviews at Hunking on March 8th & 11th. Questions about these programs that are not addressed on the website can be directed to program leaders at CTE@haverhill-ps.org

Progress Reports: Issued Tuesday February 13th

We will issue progress reports in the student portal like we did in trimester 1. If you need support using the parent portal we have these resources from the HPS website.

After emailing portalsupport@haverhill-ps.org, you will receive an automated email from HPS Tech Support confirming receipt of the request. You can respond directly to any emails from the HPS Tech Support system (no login necessary!). You can expect a response within 24 hours during the school week (Monday through Friday) on non-holiday weeks.

Parent/Teacher Conferences: Thursday February 15th- 6pm-7:30pm

NJHS Fundraiser: The NJHS is having an MSPCA drive.  We will be collecting gently used blankets, towels. Sheets,  pillow cases and any toys or treats that pets can use especially in the cold winter months.  The drive will run from January 16th to February 16th.  Please bring all items to room 11.  Thank you

Yearbook: Any 8th grader who would like to design a cover for the yearbook, should see Ms. Deblasis in Room 19 as soon as possible for the guidelines. The deadline to submit a yearbook cover design is February 1, 2024.

All 8th graders that would like to have their baby picture in this year’s yearbook, should email a wallet size picture to Ms. Deblasis no later than Monday, February 12, 2024.  NO baby pictures will be accepted late!
